Holland Festival

Performance by Hildur Gudnadottir at the Holland Festival Bimhaus.

As well as trying out a new "Dorofone" by friend and colleague Halldor Ulfarsson, Hildur played the new six stringed fretted electric cello by Hans Johannsson. The cello is powered by an inbuilt pre-amp and is routed through a convolution filter emulating a recent classical cello from Hans Johannssons studio. One of the exciting improvisations centered around playing a classical string quartet through activators driven by the electric cello. Also experiments were made using the cello's own wooden resonators dispersed in the space to create a kind of surround effect. These experiments are an ongoing collaboration between Hildur Gudnadottir and Hans Johannsson.
